Psik Theatre Company in collaboration with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem present:
The Days of Adel
"An inspiring play, performed with rare intensity"
Based on a true story
  About the play
When Adel and Nachum meet in a psychiatric ward, the unthinkable becomes possible. Adel, a Palestinian schizophrenic who is convinced that he is Jewish, meets Nachum, a backward Yeshiva (Rabbinical college)student. The relationship between them evolves from their time together, confined as they are by four walls, from their longing for home, love, and God.
The play provides a spy hole into the afflictions facing mental patients. The inner worlds of Adel and Nachum reflect the everyday reality of existence in Israel, shedding light on an individual's inner challenges, fears, and hopes. The play is currently being translated into English.
  The artists
The play was written by Uri Nitzan, a student at the Medical Faculty of the Hebrew University, winner of the Harry Hirshzon prize for prose, drama, and poetry. Spending time in the psychiatric ward inspired Nitzan to write the play. The directing of Isaac Benabu, head of the Department of Theatre Studies at the Hebrew University, merges the English theatrical tradition with the collective Israeli experience. Benabu places the actor in the centre of the artistic process. He chose a minimalist set, letting the powerful characters draw the spectator into the action.
